It is said these traditions started before the great war continuing to promote good fortunes in the new year. The Feasts of Luperca and Atargatis. it is the central point between winter and spring, it honors the connections between land and sea it honoring the gods of fertility.
Men would go to a grotto dedicated to Luperca, the wolf god of the moon and offer items to show off their virility. While women would go to the sea and lay wreaths dedicated to the Atargatis who was goddess of the moon, feminine powers and water. It is said that if a woman is lucky she might see mermaids collecting her offerings to take it directly to the Goddess.
The moon’s powers will be strangely different this full moon cycle.
